Skinny Jeans: The Struggle is Real!

Oh is The Struggle ever real! I know you're feeling me on this one!
#SkinnyJeanStrugglin', it's a universal issue ladies!  This is a Short, Tall, Big, Small, Married, Single & Hot Momma struggle that we can ALL relate to, ya feelin me? Look, we can't all be Kim K. with a closet full of perfectly customized Current/Elliot Ankle Skinny Jeans, can we?
I mean, I suppose you can  if you have $300.00 to spare and a Tailor on the payroll but if you're anything like this Momma of 4, the only thing you have 300 of is stains in your carpet from sippy cups and juice boxes! But that's a struggle for another day.

So here's my issue, I'm 4 foot nothing! I mean I'm basically the size of a large toddler and I'm not even kidding!
I'm living the struggle ladies, Every. Damn. Day! But I can show you better than I can tell you....
Feel My Pain?

So here's my options: Succumb or Overcome....

Overcome it is! Amen? If you, like me, struggle with skinny jeans too long and any attempt at fixing the length then leaves them too wide, like a pair of 1980's mom jeans, I have a quick and easy fix for you! With less than $5.00 and in under 10 minutes you can solve all your skinny struggles! Say whaaaat!

What you'll need:
Jeans ( Duh!)
Hem Tape ( Get 50% off!)
Scissors
Iron/Ironing Board
Chalk

*** Some of my pictures are shown with jeans inside out, please do NOT let this confuse you. For this tutorial, jeans will ALWAYS be RIGHT side out!!***

LET'S GET STARTED!!

Step1:
If your jeans are too long, measure & cut to desired length making sure to leave 1/2 to 1 inch for hem. (I leave mine fringed)

Step2:
Pull excess jean  toward outer seam line until you achieve desired fit, mark with chalk line making sure to transition into the original seam line for a more natural looking finish! VERY IMPORTANT!

NOTICE HOW I TRANSITIONED MY CHALK LINE INTO THE ORIGINAL SEAM ON MY LEFT PANT LEG!

Step 3:
Place your jeans flat, chalk line facing DOWN toward the ironing pad. Create a fold along the chalk line & press firmly until you have a nice crease.

This is what your fold should look like (Your jeans should NOT be inside out)

Step 4:
Now your going to place your hem tape along the inner edge of your fold making sure to cover the entire area underneath

Step 5:
Working from the bottom upward, take your iron and press the folded area firmly ensuring hem tape adheres completely to the fabric. You will likely have to go over this area slowly several times. As you work upward you are going to want to use the tip of your iron to press along the edge of the fold to ensure the excess hem tape does not adhere to your jeans. Once the folded area has been pressed you want to trim the excess hem tape and press again.

   Step 6:
  *OPTIONAL*
To hem your jeans simply turn them inside out, cuff them approx. 1/2 to 1 inch, insert hem tape & press! That's it!

It is literally that easy! Here's my finished look!

Don't they look Great! You'd never know this was done in under 10 minutes for less than $5.00, no sewing required!

Short & Sweet....
1. Pull excess jean toward outer seam & mark with a chalk line.
2. Place Jeans, chalk line side DOWN. Fold & press firmly to create your fold.
3. Place hem tape INSIDE fold, along the INNER edge making sure to cover entire area UNDERNEATH the fold.
4. Press Firmly avoiding going over any of the exposed hem tape, trim the excess.
5. *Optional* Turn jeans inside out, make a 1/2 to 1 inch fold, placing hem tape inside & pressing firmly until tape adheres completely!
You're Done!!

So what's your struggle looking like these days? If you decided to give this tutorial a try I'd love to see your finished look! Until next time, keep it classy ladies!
